NACOGDOCHES, Texas. – The fourth robbery of a wizarding bank in the last seven weeks occurred Thursday afternoon in this sleepy east Texas town, as the now-infamous outlaws called the Imperius Gang struck the First National Warlocks’ Bank at the corner of Mimms Ave. and Fredonia St.
In similar fashion to their other robberies, the bandits kidnapped the bank president, Mr. Farlo Farnsworth, from his home, placed him under the Imperius Curse, and forced him to open the vault just after closing time on Thursday.
In addition to over 40,000 Galleons, the robbers made off with dozens of precious gems, a number of family heirlooms from prominent wizarding families in the Texas community, and a rare portrait of the Spanish Conquistador Francisco Pizzaro, owned by the Valenzuela family of nearby Arcadia.
The bank robbery is particularly hard-felt in this bucolic town, as the majority of the money stolen was payroll for the Fizzbang Novelty Works, a locally-owned producer of magical joke items. Fizzbang has been undergoing a recent expansion, adding 17 new employees to produce items under contract for Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes, the famous London-based joke shop conglomerate. Now, with most of the company’s liquid assets seized by the Imperius Gang, Junius Fizzbang, the firm’s owner, said they may not be able to remain in business. If forced to close, Fizzbang would lay off 49 employees in Nacgodoches.
The Imperius Gang, which has previously struck banks in Louisiana, Missouri, and Georgia, is just one of a number of outlaw groups that have left a trail of destruction throughout the south. Crime levels nationwide have seen a continual increase since the latter part of 2014. With the Auror Department’s continuous staffing problems, it has been hard-pressed to combat the crime wave, which has included robberies, home invasions, vandalism, muggings, kidnappings, and attacks on Muggles.
Deputy Chief Auror Jake Winchester, who has been personally leading the task force to catch the Imperius Gang, vowed to redouble the Department’s efforts.”We owe it to the good people of Nacogdoches, and especially the employees of Fizzbang, to bring these scoundrels to justice.” The Department is asking for anyone with tips in the case to please send an owl to Auror Department headquarters in Salem. A 2500 Galleon reward is available for tips that lead to the capture of any of the Gang’s members.
